Accessibility Statement

Reason to Hope (reasontohope.net) is committed to making this website accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. This commitment reflects my values as a clinical social worker: everyone deserves equal access to care and information.

My commitment

I strive to make this website usable for people with a wide range of abilities, including those who use assistive technology such as screen readers, voice recognition software, and keyboard-only navigation.

My goal is to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, the internationally recognized standard for web accessibility. This is an ongoing effort, and I am continually working to improve the accessibility and usability of my site.

What I aim to provide

  • A responsive layout that works on phones, tablets, and desktops
  • Clear heading structure so content is easy to navigate with screen readers
  • Sufficient color contrast between text and background
  • Text descriptions (alt text) for meaningful images
  • Keyboard-navigable forms, links, and menus
  • Plain, readable language wherever possible

Limitations and alternatives

Despite my efforts, some parts of this website may not yet be fully accessible. If you have difficulty accessing any content, using any feature, or need information in a different format, please contact me and I will work with you to provide the information you need in an accessible format. This may include:

  • Large print
  • An accessible electronic document
  • Reading the information aloud over the phone
  • Another format that works for you

How to contact me

I take accessibility feedback seriously and will respond to requests as quickly as I can.

I will respond to accessibility requests within 5 business days and make every reasonable effort to provide an accessible alternative. If you do not hear back within that time, please call - emails are not monitored continuously.

Important note

This website and email are not monitored 24/7 and are not appropriate for emergencies. This practice is not an emergency service. If you are in crisis or immediate danger, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), call 911, or go to your nearest emergency room.

Reporting an accessibility issue

If you encounter an accessibility barrier on this site, please let me know by email or phone (above) and include:

  • The page address (URL) where you had trouble
  • A brief description of the problem
  • The assistive technology or device you were using, if any

I will review the issue and work to resolve it.

Third-party content

Some features on this website may depend on third-party tools or content (for example, scheduling, payment, or embedded media). While I cannot fully control the accessibility of third-party services, I will work with you to provide the information or service you need through an alternative route if a third-party tool is not accessible to you.
